How to Support the Royal Choral Society

The Royal Choral Society has been inspiring music lovers around the world for nearly 150 years. Since its inception in 1872, the choir has remained independent, enjoying rich and rewarding collaborations with orchestras, soloists and conductors across the musical spectrum.

The choir is a self-sustaining charity that does not receive public funding and is not ‘attached’ to an orchestra or venue. The choir relies on donations, ticket sales, sponsorship, and donations from individuals and trusts and foundations to cover its running costs. Putting on a concert is an expensive business as a choir of over 150 requires a big venue. A concert with choir and orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, for example, will need a budget of £50,000 while a smaller concert in a London church with a chamber orchestra will still cost around £25,000.

Choir members all pay an annual subscription to belong to the Royal Choral Society, and cover all their own travel and music costs. The choir welcomes any support in the form of donations, legacies and sponsorship that enables the choir to maintain its artistic freedom and financial independence.

In addition to buying tickets to concerts or hiring the choir for your own event, there are many ways that you can help support the Royal Choral Society: you can make a donation, support with corporate sponsorship, or leave a legacy to the Royal Choral Society.  Please download our Sponsorship Brochure to find out more.
