As part of the bicentennial celebrations for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, the Royal Choral Society were invited to perform Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony at the Morizkirche in Coburg, performing alongside the Coburg Philharmonic Orchestra and soloists and chorus of the Coburg Landestheater. The choir stayed in Coburg itself and enjoyed getting to know this lovely German town. The excellent orchestra also performed Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, conducted by Richard Cooke, and the mini tour was a great opportunity to spread the love for this favourite among English composers.
