The Royal Choral Society will mark the 100th anniversary of the Great War Armistice on the eleventh day of the eleventh month 2018 with a programme of music and poetry that signifies ‘Remembrance’.

The Royal Choral Society will mark the 100th anniversary of the Great War Armistice on the eleventh day of the eleventh month 2018, performing Vaughan Williams’ own haunting 'war requiem' Dona Nobis Pacem, set to evocative texts by Walt Whitman. The London Philharmonic Orchestra will also play Elgar’s Enigma Variations in a programme of Remembrance on a momentous day.

Actor Paul McGann (Withnail & I, Doctor Who), who came to fame in the title role of First World War TV drama The Monocled Mutineer, will read a selection of poignant First World War poetry.

This performance is in aid of Combat Stress, the charity helping former servicemen and women deal with trauma-related mental health problems.
